Orissa Forestry Sector Development Project
(Assisted by the Japan Bank for International Cooperation ID - P 173)

To restore degraded forests and improve the income level of villagers by promoting
sustainable forest management including Joint Forest Management (JFM) plantation and community/tribal development, with larger goals of improving environment and alleviating poverty.


The Orissa State government have launched the Orissa Forestry Sector Development Project (OFSDP) with the support from  Japan Bank for International Cooperation (JBIC). The Orissa Forestry Sector Development Project is register under Societies Act bearing registration no 022321/49/2006-07.

The major objective of the project is to restore degraded Forests and improve the income level of villagers by to promoting sustainable forest management  JFM and community/tribal development, with the improving environment and alleviating poverty of overall goal. degraded forests and create forest cover for increasing flow  of forest produce in a sustainable manner. Conserving  the bio-diversity, improving livelihood of the people

The Project is implemented in 14 forest divisions in 10 different administrative districts of Orissa. These areas are in 5 forest circles of the State
