Chilika  Wildlife Division

Name and Situation:
The area of this division covers the total area of Chilika Wild Life Sanctuary, entire Chilika Range of old Puri Forest Division and part of Khalikote Range (Huma and Pallur area) of Ghumusar (South) Division on the southern side of NH-5. from Pallur junctuion to Bhusandpur village on Shore of Chilika Lake.

Flora:
Jhau (Casuarina equisetifolia), Kaju (Anacardium occidentale), Nim (Melia indica), Tentuli(Tamarindus indica)

Fauna

Area of sanctuary:      (a) Nalban        : 6 72 Ha

                                   (b) Buffer Zone : 881 Ha

                                       Total             1553 Ha

Chital (Axis axis), Rhesus Macaque (Macaca mulatta), Common Langur (Presbytis entellus), Small Indian Mongoose (Herpestes auropunctatus), Jackal (Canis aureus), Blackbuck (Antelope cervicapra). Both resident and migratory birds
