Forestry Programs
Generating employment opportunity for people in general and forest fringe dwellers in particular Increasing forest cover and Improving the productivity of the forests addressing twin objective of poverty alleviation and drought proofing

Strategy
Involvement of people through VSS Site specific micro planning for afforestation with soil conservation. Afforestation activities as per micro plan prepared by VSSs  with entry point activities

The forestry development programs under RLTAP aim at reforesting the degraded forests with a view to improving availability of forest produce to support forest based livelihood. Improved forest cover will also result in improvement in soil moisture regime leading to improved farm productivity. Additionally, implementation of the program will provide enhanced employment opportunities to the rural/tribal people. Under this program so far143767ha of forest area has been tackled.
An important component initiated during the year 2004-05is the employment generation through Medicinal Plants in 30 selected VSSs.  with 1/3 contribution from the beneficiaries to be arranged through Bank Loans. 95 ha Medicinal Plantation has been raised on the year 2004-05
