The forest department in the state was
re-organised on 1st October 2003. with a view to bring the
administration closer to the people. The entire area is divided into
281 ranges in 50 divisions (comprising of 37 forest divisions and 12
wildlife divisions and Nandan Kanan Zoological Park), in 8 circles.
Consequent to this reorganization, there are 3 wings in the Forest Department namely;
(a) Forest Wing
headed by the Principal CCF to
take care of management, protection, development of forests and
afforestation programmes.

Wildlife Wing
headed by the Principal .CCF Wildlife is primarily responsible for
management of wild life and protected areas.

Kendu
leaf Wing
headed by the Addl. Pr. CCF Kenduleaf to look after production of kendu leaf, an important revenue of the state. KL produce
is marketed by the Orissa Forest development Corporation Ltd.
